Wakanda Forever: The Heart Shaped Herb Sangria

When trying to come up with a dish for this week's theme, I was admittedly a little stumped. I've seen Black Panther three times so far, and as many times I went through each scene in my head, I couldn't remember anything even remotely related to food beyond the coffee that Killmonger used to poison the museum curator and the nondescript piece of meat that was flipped in the marketplace in Wakanda.

Then it hit me! The heart shaped herb was so prominent throughout the movie and ultimately saved T'Challa's life. I figured I'd make a heart shaped herb themed sangria. In the comic, the plant is actually an herb that resembles poison ivy leaves. But the film took a liberty and made it a purple flower. So, for this recipe I'm going to take that liberty myself and also include the blue and blackberries to resemble kimoyo beads.

In the comic, it gives the user enhanced speed, agility, strength, endurance, healing and Super-Soldier level senses. Whoever consumes it's senses are enhanced so they can now see in total darkness, track any scent, and hear an enemy's heartbeat. I can't make the same claims for this sangria though. Unlike the fictional herb I can guarantee that enough of it will at the very least make you feel like it's enhanced all the aforementioned in you. And although enough of it will actually impair your vision, it will taste amazing going down.

Sip responsibly!
